NEW DELHI, February 26(APD)-Vijay Gokhale, the Foreign Secretary of India on Tuesday said that a camp belonging to the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohamad (JeM) in a disputed territory has been destroyed through an air strike.

He said that the Indian Air Force (IAF) had taken the action on Tuesday morning in the early hours. According to Gokhale, the terrorist organization was training personnel at the camp to strike India again.

“In the face of imminent danger, a pre-emptive strike became absolutely necessary,” Gokhale said.

The news comes days after the attack on Indian soldiers in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, where more than 40 security personnel were killed.

Meanwhile, Sushma Swaraj is currently briefing her counterparts in US, China, Bangladesh and Afghanistan on the air strikes.

It is the first time that India has conducted airstrikes over the disputed territory since the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

While India is claiming that there have been causalities, Pakistan’s Major-General Asif Ghafoor, said through twitter that, “No infrastructure got hit, no casualties.”

The Guardian quoted Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasizing that India’s claim about the aerial attack was, “a self-serving, reckless and fictitious claim”.

“This action has been done for domestic consumption in the election environment, putting regional peace and stability at grave risk,” he added.
