Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soybean futures traded higher on Tuesday morning, as traders are awaiting more purchases by Chinese buyers after recent trade talks.

As of 1530 GMT, the most active March soybeans were up 0.25 cent at 9.17 dollars per bushel. March wheat was up 4.25 cents at 5.22 dollars per bushel. March corn was down 1.25 cents at 3.805 dollars per bushel.

Due to the prolonged federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has not updated its exports sales, supply and demand reports since Dec. 22, 2018.

Traders had to learn from other channels for statistics, with eyes on any new development concerning the ongoing U.S. and China trade talks.

CBOT wheat futures firmed on hopes that U.S. exports of wheat will pick up amid concerns about supply shortfalls in the Black Sea region.

As for weather forecast for agricultural crop, a large winter storm continues to hammer much of the U.S. Corn Belt on Tuesday, stretching from eastern Colorado all the way through the Great Lakes, according to the National Weather Service.
