Chinese community in Chicago busy preparing for Lunar New Year

Huaxing Arts Group in Chicago announced Monday it will host several events in Chicago to mark Chinese Lunar New Year.It is also part of its effort to spread Chinese culture.
Before the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 5 this year, the arts group will stage Chinese dance and skill performance at Chicago Fashion Outlets and the Shops at North Bridge.
After the new year, it will present to the audience Chinese drum dance and acrobatics during the intermission of Chicago Bulls game at United Center, and participate in the Spring Festival Parade to be held in Chicago Chinatown.
On the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year, a Spring Festival couplets competition will be held at Xilin Art Academy in Chicago Chinatown, and the winners will be announced at the scene.
Pending Chinese Lunar New Year, the Chinatown in Chicago is full of festive atmosphere. Main streets have been decorated with red lanterns; air-filled cartoon figurines stand on road medians, waving to passers-by; stores along the streets are bustling with people buying New Year food.
