The upcoming Hanover Messe will highlight the industrial use of 5G and artificial intelligence, laying the ground work for future manufacturing, chairman of the managing board of the trade Fair Koeckler Jochen said on Sunday.

The five-day trade show, from April 1 to 5, is often seen as a venue of industrial technology, serving as a platform for entrepreneurs and experts from industry, researchers as well as government officials to meet.

This year's Fair will for the first time feature a large-scale 5G test bed and showcase the development of AI which is the "the heart of future industry", Jochen said.

AI can analyze a vast amount of data and arrive at informed decisions, thus making customized mass production possible, Jochen said.

"It is key for the production of the future, that the machines are able to learn to exchange information among each other," Jochen said.

Jochen said that 5G, which can transfer large volumes of data in real time while maintaining high standards of data security, will be absolutely fundamental to the digital integration of industry.

Hanover Messe this year has organized a 5G Arena Forum, comprising programs throughout the trade Fair, putting 5G as a spearheading topic.

According to a statement, a total of 6,500 exhibitors from 75 countries and regions, including global corporations, medium-sized companies as well as start-ups, are gathered at the Hanover Messe this year.

Noting that over 1,300 Chinese exhibitors attended the Fair, Jochen said China is now contributing innovations meanwhile looking for innovations in the gradual change towards Industry 4.0, and is also "in the topic of artificial intelligence and connected industry production of the future".

"On the one hand, China is a very important markets of industrial technology, and on the other hand China already has a lot of up-to-date industrial technology and equipment," Jochen said.
