Saudi king reiterates support for political solution to Syrian crisis
TUNIS, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Sunday reiterated his country's support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis at the 30th Arab League (AL) summit held in Tunisia.
The Saudi king also expressed his rejection to measures that impact the Syrian sovereignty over the Golan Heights in his opening speech at the annual Arab summit.
He called on the United States to review President Donald Trump's recent decision on the occupied Golan.
Trump signed a proclamation last week recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, more than a year after his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Additionally, King Salman highlighted Saudi Arabia's support for the establishment of an indepedent Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also called for UN efforts to end the conflict in Libya and Yemen, and the international efforts to end the Iranian threat against security and stability of the Arab region.
