Mick Schumacher finishes 8th in F2 debut race
Mick Schumacher made his much-anticipated Formula 2 debut for the Prema Racing team on Saturday. The young and upcoming driver, son of seven-time Formula One world champion and legend Michael Schumacher finished eighth in his debut race in Bahrain after qualifying in 10th place.
20-year-old Schumacher did have a confident start as he jumped up one place once the five green lights were on.
He drove flat out down the track before overtaking Nikita Mazepin on lap 24. The German eventually moved ahead into ninth place.

Subsequently, Schumacher made a smart maneuver to move inside Japanese driver Nobuharu Matsushita on the final lap and edged past him.
The German driver crossed the checkered flag about 35 seconds behind winner Nicholas Latifi of Canada. Pole-sitter Luca Ghiotto of Italy was eight seconds further back in second, with Sergio Sette Camara of Brazil finishing third.
Since baby-stepping into the world of motor racing and eying to follow in his father's iconic footsteps, Schumacher won the F3 European Championship title last year. The triumph fast-tracked him into F2 and is widely considered as a future prospect for Formula One. There has been speculation that if he does well with the F2 this season, he may be drafted into the big world of F1 by 2020.
