Czech Republic to increase spending on science
PRAGUE, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The state budget support for science and research in the Czech Republic will rise to 38.2 billion crowns (1.66 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022, according to the Czech Government Research, Development and Innovation Council (RVVI) Friday.
The RVVI met at a regular meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Andrej Babis here Friday, discussing the action plans of the newly introduced Innovation Strategy of the Czech Republic 2019-2030.
It also approved the draft of the state budget for research and development for 2020 with a view to 2021 and 2022.
"We are preparing a revolutionary solution for motivating and financing spin-offs and start-ups,"said Babis, also the RVVI chairman, at the meeting.
According to the draft, the budget for research and development is set at 37 billion crowns for 2020 and 37.5 billion for 2021.
In 2015, state budget in this respect was only 27 billion crowns. In 2019, it rose to 35.9 billion crowns.
