New progress in "academic Palace Museum" development
BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The palace museum, or the Forbidden City, has established five new academic institutes in its latest move to further develop an "academic palace museum."
The five institutes are the institute of jade culture, the institute of science and technology for cultural relics protection, the institute of ancient calligraphy and painting, the institute of architecture and planning and the institute of intellectual property rights, the palace museum announced Friday.
All the five new institute are under the palace museum's academic research arm, known as the palace museum Research Institute, which now an administrative office, a post-doctoral research workstation, and 26 specialized research institutes.
Among the major academic achievements by the palace museum Research Institute over the past two years are "Introduction to the Imperial palace studies" by Zheng Xinmiao, the five-volume "History of pre-Qing Dynasty" compiled by Zhu Chengru, "Review of painting and calligraphy works by Zhao Mengfu" by Wang Lianqi and "System of official kilns in ancient China" by Wang Guangyao.
