WASHINGTON, March 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. personal income increased 0.2 percent in February, recovering from a 0.1 percent decrease a month earlier, the U.S. Department of Commerce said on Friday.

According to the department, personal income in the United States increased 42 billion dollars in February, which was 0.2 percent higher than in the previous month.

Disposable personal income increased 31.3 billion dollars, or 0.2 percent month-on-month, the department said in a monthly report.

"The increase in personal income in February primarily reflected increases in wages and salaries, government social benefits to persons, and proprietors' income," the department said.

Those gains, it added, were partially offset by a decrease in personal interest income.
