Gala held in Tibet marking 60th anniversary of democratic reform
A gala unveiled in three chapters to celebrate Tibet's 60th anniversary of democratic reform was held in Lhasa in China's southwestern Tibet Autonomous Region on Thursday.
Featuring various art forms, including theater dance, choral music and recitations, the gala was retrospective of people's lives before and after the democratic reform in 1959.
Historical changes were also depicted in the performance which gave a general idea of how residents overcome a severe geographical environment to improve local infrastructure.

Tibet was peacefully liberated in 1959. On stage, the gala showed how people's lives have improved drastically. Withthe economy booming, people have opened self-owned businesses, earned money and can afford to buy household appliances and cars. Children have also got access to education.
In 1959, feudal serfdom under theocracy in Tibet was abolished completely with about one million serfs liberated.

China's State Council Information Office on Wednesday issued a white paper, titled "democratic Reform in Tibet – Sixty Years On," on the democratic reform and economic development in Tibet over the past six decades.
