Up to 85 percent of Ukrainians to vote in presidential election: survey

KIEV, march 28 (Xinhua) -- Up to 85 percent of Ukrainians plan to vote in the presidential election scheduled for march 31, the government-run news agency Ukrinform reported Thursday, citing a public opinion poll.

The nation-wide poll that surveyed some 1,600 people on march 20-26 showed that 62 percent of the respondents will "definitely" go to the polling stations, while 23 percent will "most likely" vote in the election to be held on Sunday, the report said.

The survey was jointly conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology and the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

Ukraine's eligible voters are estimated to be 29.8 million currently. In the last presidential vote in May 2014, the voter turnout was 59.5 percent.
