Head-on bus crash in Bangladesh leaves 8 dead
DHAKA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus left eight people dead and dozens of others injured early Thursday in Bangladesh's Chattogram district, 242 km southeast of capital Dhaka, a police official said.
Aman, a local police official, told journalists, "Eight passengers were killed on the spot in the head-on collision between the passenger bus and the microbus."
All the deceased were aboard the microbus, he said.
The road accident that occurred on a highway at Chattogram's Lohagara sub-distritct at around 1:00 a.m. local time Thursday also left 25 passengers injured, he said.
Local media feared the death toll may rise.
According to the police official, all the injured were rushed to local hospitals and clinics.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
