Singapore stocks close 0.06 pct lower

Singapore, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.06 percent, or 1.89 points, to close at 3,198.39.

A total of 1 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1 billion Singapore dollars (about 738.74 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 213 to 173.

The STI index went up 0.55 percent, or 17.36 points, to close at 3,200.28 on Tuesday.
