Russia says to give extra impetus to boost economic cooperation with U.S.
MOSCOW, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Russia is ready to make further efforts to enhance Economic cooperation with the United States, which currently falls short of its potential, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.
Putting it mildly, Russia-U.S. cooperation is below its potential. "We would like to add additional impetus to our Economic and investment cooperation," Lavrov said at a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia.
In this regard, the presidents of the two countries discussed the idea of setting up a coordinating business council involving top executives of five to seven private companies from each side at their meeting in Helsinki last July, according to Lavrov.
The top diplomat praised steadily growing bilateral trade and investment between Russia and the United States, which reflects mutual interest of their business communities.
"We would like to attract foreign business, including from the United States, and create favorable conditions for it. We hope for a reciprocal favorable attitude towards Russian business circles," Lavrov said.
