Hanoi, March 26 (APD) – A specialised route for goods transportation between Vietnam and China has been recently opened, linking the Tan Thanh border gate of Vietnam’s northern border province of Lang Son with the Pu Zhai border gate of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Vice Chairman of the Lang Son People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong said the official opening of this route is an important milestone in the development of cooperation between his province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as between Vietnam and China.
The route will facilitate goods transportation and export-import activities through Tan Thanh and Pu Zhai border gates, thus reducing the goods congestion at the Vietnamese side. It is also expected to help enhance bilateral tourism partnership and people-to-people exchanges, he added.
Invested with 228 billion VND (9.8 million USD), the road is more than 4.7km long and 19.5m wide. Its construction began in 2015.
China remains Vietnam’s largest trade partner, and the latter surpasses Malaysia to become the biggest trade partner of the former in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Last year, two-way trade between Vietnam and China exceeded 106 billion USD, up 14 percent year-on-year, of which 41 billion USD came from Vietnam’s exports, up 16 percent.
The structure of Vietnam’s exports to China has positively changed towards gradually increasing the proportion of manufactured products and agro-forestry-aquatic products and decreasing the proportion of raw materials, fuels and minerals. (ASIA PACIFIC DAILY)
