Israeli army targets Hamas-run facilities in expanded airstrikes on Gaza
Gaza, March 25 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army expanded airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Monday night after targeting Hamas security facilities in Gaza City, a local radio station and eyewitnesses said.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli warplanes completely destroyed a Hamas-run building including an insurance company in central Gaza City.
However, an Israeli army spokesman said in a press statement that the targeted building is used for processing Hamas security intelligence.
Local radio station al-Quds reported that the main headquarters of Hamas interior security in Remal neighborhood in western Gaza City was destroyed by Israeli drones and warplanes.
Israeli warplanes also destroyed a house in eastern Gaza City, with no injuries reported, al-Quds said.
According to security officials in Gaza and eyewitnesses, Israeli drones and warplanes carried out more than 15 airstrikes on posts, facilities, compounds and buildings that belong to Hamas and other militant groups in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza health ministry said no injuries had been reported in the Israeli airstrikes yet, adding that a status of emergency had been declared at all hospitals across the coastal enclave.
The intensive Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip were carried out in response to earlier rocket attacks from Gaza on Tel Aviv in central Israel.
The Israeli media reported that the attacks injured seven Israelis and caused severe destruction to several buildings in northern Tel Aviv. Enditem
