Cannavaro "in no hurry" to decide his future as team China coach
NANNING, CHINA, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Cannavaro insisted he was in no hurry to decide his future in CHINA after his team concluded 2019 CHINA Cup with two consecutive defeats here on Monday.
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) appointed the Italian to steer CHINA in CHINA Cup on March 15 which meant Cannavaro would split the role with his current position in charge of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.
However, it was still not clear whether the 46-year-old will be CHINA's permanent coach or just a temporary arrangement after CHINA lost 1-0 to Uzbekistan in the 3rd-place game of the CHINA Cup.
"I am in no hurry, there are still a lot of things to discuss with the CFA and club. During this tournament, the CFA has learned my working style while I also expressed my idea, but we haven't reached any agreement. The coach of a national team can't be decided in just one day," said Cannavaro.
Cannavaro also expressed gratitude to his players.
"I learned a lot from this new experience, it is not a full squad but all the current players have cooperated very well with me. I can't change a team in a short time but I acquired a lot of useful things like enhancing the understanding of my players."
