CBA club Xinjiang confirms signing of Felder to replace Adams
URUMQI, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kay Felder has replaced Darius Adams as a foreign player for the upcoming playoffs of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, Xinjiang side announced on Monday.
Originally drafted 54th overall by the Cavaliers in 2016, Felder held 3.8 points and 1.3 assists per game in his NBA career.
Adams just won the trophy of 2018-2019 CBA regular season MVP with 36.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.4 assists averagely in 45 game as Xinjiang ranked third. However, he was criticized for excessive individualistic heroism on the court.
"Due to personal issues, Adams could not meet the requirements of playing in playoffs," the CBA team explained.
The star guard still has a chance to get back to the court as a substitute, if Felder's performance proved to be unsatisfactory, sources said.
