Expert committee formed to facilitate youth development plan implementation
BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- An expert committee comprised of well-respected domestic scholars and professionals in the field of Youth development was established here Monday to facilitate sound implementation of the Middle- and Long-Term Youth Development Plan (2016-2025).
The committee will direct their efforts toward the intellectual and moral standards of Youth, their education, health and culture, as well as love and marriage. In addition, social integration and participation, social security and Youth entrepreneurs will be focused on, as well as the protection of legitimate rights and interests of young people and the prevention of law violations by young people.
Chinese central authorities released the 10-year Youth development plan in April 2017, vowing better education, employment and healthcare for the nation's Youth.
"Youth" in the context of the plan refers to those between the ages of 14 to 35.
Specifically, the plan set educational goals at an average of 13.5 years of education for the newly-added labor force and a gross higher education enrollment rate of over 50 percent within 10 years. It aims for 90 percent of the groups to meet physical standards and that Youth will have more accesses to mental and physical care.
