Namibia finalizing negotiations with Britain over tariffs
WINDHOEK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Namibia is on the verge of completing talks with the United Kingdom (UK) to safeguard its tariff-free meat export to that country, a meat board said on Monday.
According to the Meat Board of Namibia, negotiations regarding the continuation of beef exports to the UK are being handled on the highest level, despite difficulties between the European Union and UK regarding Brexit negotiations.
The Southern African Customs Union, of which Namibia is a part of, is in the final stage of negotiations to establish a Free Trade Agreement with UK.
On completion of the negotiations, Namibia could still be able to export tariff and quota free to UK.
Namibia exports approximately 26 percent of its beef to UK, according to the Meat Board.
