9th Beijing International Film Festival to start in April
The ninth BEIJING International Film festival will be held from April 13 to 20, with a theme of "Home, Land" in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The festival will consist of seven major activities including an opening ceremony, a forum, a Film market and the BEIJING Film Panorama intended for the public, Monday's People's Daily reported.
More than 300 smaller activities, such as Film concerts and an "Indian Film Week," are to take place during the festival.
During the festival, 15 Films, which were produced after Jan. 1, 2018 and selected from around the world, will be evaluated by a jury made of seven prominent figures in the global Film industry and contend for prizes of 10 categories in the festival's "Tiantan Award."
For the much-anticipated Film panorama, the organizing committee has selected nearly 500 works to be screened at 30 cinemas across BEIJING for 15 days starting April 6.
The festival, first introduced in 2011, will be jointly sponsored by the BEIJING Municipal Government and China Media Group.
