APD | UAE Minister of State for Food Security now in Manila

MANILA, Mar.25 (APD) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Food Security Mariam Al Mehairi began her two-day visit today to explore cooperation with the Philippines in agriculture and food sciences, specifically on rice, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
She is scheduled to visit the Philippines Rice Research Institute in the Science City of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija and the International Rice Research Institute in Los Baños, Laguna.
Minister Mehairi is also expected to meet senior officials of the Department of Agriculture and other stakeholders in agribusiness. A welcome dinner will also be hosted by the Department of Agriculture in her honor.
She will be accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana.
Minister Mehairi was appointed to her position by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashin Al Maktoum in October 2017. She also served as Assistant Undersecretary for Water Resources and Nature Conservation Affairs at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
She had her bachelor and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University in Aachen, Germany.
