Two blasts rock central Mogadishu

Mogadishu, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Two huge blasts hit the buildings of Ministry of Labor and public works in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Saturday morning, police and eye witnesses have confirmed.

Police sources told Xinhua that the first car detonated at the gate of the Labor Ministry and another one followed minutes later, rocking nearby government building.

The sources added the number of casualties was not officially confirmed.

A huge smoke could be seen souring above the site of the blasts as ambulances rushed to rescue the injured.

"We have already rescued 11 people injured at the site of the blast. However, we do not know the exact number of the injured," said Abdulkadir Abdurrahman, director of Amin Ambulance.
