Hand grenade thrown at Russian consulate in Athens
Athens, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The Russian consulate in Athens was attacked early Friday with a hand grenade, causing no injuries or serious damages, Greek national news agency AMNA reported.
According to the police, at least two perpetrators riding a motorbike threw the device inside the yard of the consulate and fled the site in the northern suburb of Chalandri.
Shortly later a motorbike was found torched in the central district of Exarcheia.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Greece has a long history of political violence with politicians, police, embassies and businesses often targeted in small-scale attacks which in most cases do not cause any casualties.
