DPRK quits liaison office with South Korea
DPRK has withdrawn from the inter-Korean liaison office opened last year to encourage talks with the South.
The South Korean Unification ministry said it was contacted on Friday morning and informed thatDPRK's staff would be leaving later in the day.
Seoul has expressed its regret at the decision and is urging staff from DPRK to return as soon as possible.
The two sides have not met since a failed summit last month between US President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un.
The liaison office, on DPRK's side of the militarised border, had allowed officials from DPRK and South Korea to communicate on a regular basis for the first time since the Korean War.
