Indian city Bengaluru bans Ola Cabs for 6 months for violating license rules
MUMBAI, March 22 (Xinhua) -- India's Karnataka state has banned online transportation net work Ola Cabs from operation in state capital Bengaluru for the next six months for viOlating license rules, according to a notification issued by the Regional Transport Office on Friday.
The company was running bike taxis in the city which was reportedly illegal given the lack of a policy framework.
"The Department had issued license to Ola only to operate mobile app based taxis in the city. But they were found illegally operating bike taxis. It is a clear viOlation of the aggregators' rules," said the notification.
Ola confirmed the notification, but said it had halted operations of its bike taxis weeks ago.
