China's Wang Yafan into Miami Open second round

WASHINGTON, March 21 (Xinhua) -- China's tennis player Wang Yafan defeated Kristina Mladenovic of France in the first round of the Miami open on Thursday.

Wang used one hour and 36 minutes to dispatch Mladenovic 6-3, 6-3.

Wang, 24, converted on eight out of 14 break points while the 25-year-old Mladenovic had five breaks out of eight chances.

The Miami open will end on March 31.
