Kigali's double-decker bus tour to offer new tourism experience
Kigali, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda Development Board in collaboration with Kigali City Tour Limited, a private company, on Thursday unveiled Kigali's first double-decker tour bus, which will be used for sightseeing in the city.
The 64-seater bus equipped with WiFi, charging ports and digital screens will be touring Kigali's key sites including museums and recreational places, Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer at Rwanda Development Board, said at an unveiling ceremony.
The bus tours will boost Rwanda's tourism by increasing the number of tourists visiting various touristic sites in the city, said Kariza.
They will also enhance the education sector, especially for the youth, by increasing field tours of country's historical places in Kigali, said Kariza, adding that local and foreign tourists will also have a chance to learn more about Kigali's history and development through tour guides.
Plans are underway to bring more buses, said Augustin Munyandamutsa, head of Kigali City Tour Limited, which will operate the bus tour at three different times daily.
Single tour on the bus will cost 20 U.S. dollars for locals and East African Community citizens while the rest will be charged at 40 U.S. dollars.
About 1.2 million tourists visit Kigali city annually, Kigali City Council said last year.
