APD | Cambodia Urges Alibaba’s Afiliate 4PX to Boost E-commerce

PHNOM PENH, March. 21 (APD) - Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce Mr.Pan Sosakak on Wednesday welcomed and supported the Shenzhen 4PX Express investment project, a subsidiary of the Alibaba Cainiao Logistics Group, to promote cross-border trading and e-commerce in Cambodia as it will create business opportunities for SMEs to expand their exports.
The comment was made during a meeting with Shenzhen 4PX Express Delegate led by founder and CEO Yue Li and also attended by Nick Beresford, UNDP Representative to Cambodia, on Wednesday at the Ministry of Commerce.
Mr. Pan San Sarak urged Shenzhen 4PX Express to develop software infrastructure (human resource training and transfer of knowledge) to support e-commerce operations and digital economic development in accordance with the Rectangular Strategy Phase 4 of the Government.
He said that the ministry has been in an effort to promote e-commerce through accelerating the E-Commerce Law. At the same time, the Ministry has been establishing many Trade and Culture Centers in many major cities in China as well as updating the 4th generation of Cambodia's Trade Integration Strategy (CTIS).
“We encouraged you to consider partnering with Small and Medium Enterprises in Cambodia in order to to promote the presence of Cambodian products such as agricultural goods, sculptures, souvenirs, fresh fruits and food online, especially Alibaba, largest in China and the world,” he said.
Mr. Yue Li expressed his appreciation for the latest information that the minister had shared regarding the E-Commerce situation in Cambodia which is very important for his company to build the ecosystem for e-commerce and cross-border trading here.
“4PX commit to developing e-commerce with the Ministry of Commerce and the Royal Government of Cambodia through partnership with UNDP and local companies as well as building a terminal where SMEs can sell their products to main distributors and sellers to regional and global markets.
