Brazil's Bolsonaro's approval rate down to 34 pct
RIO DE JANEIRO, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro's approval rate fell to 34 percent in an Ibope poll published on Wednesday.
According to the poll, only 34 percent of electors consider Bolsonaro's government good or very good, down from 39 percent in the previous poll, held in February.
Another 34 percent consider the government regular, from 30 percent in the previous poll, and 24 percent considered it bad or very bad, up from 19 percent in February. Eight percent said they did not know, down from 12 percent in the previous poll.
The president's approval rate has been falling steadily since he took office. From the first Ibope poll in January, to the third in March, the approval rate fell 15 points and is now the lowest registered by a president in the third month of their first term since the country returned into the hands of civilian governments in the 1980s.
Bolsonaro's manner of governing was approved by 51 percent in March, down from 57 percent in February, and disapproved by 38 percent, up from 31 percent in the previous poll.
In addition, the population's trust in the president fell from 55 to 49 percent, while those who said they distrusted Bolsonaro rose from 38 to 44 percent.
The Ibope poll was carried out from March 16 to 19, among 2,002 electors from all over Brazil. The margin of error is two points.
