China issues blue alert for blizzard
CHINA's meteorological authorities issued a blue alert for heavy snowstorms on Wednesday.
The National Meteorological Center said snowstorms will hit parts of Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang from Wednesday to Thursday, with four to eight centimeters of new snow expected.
In some areas, blizzards are expected to drop over 10 centimeters of new snow, it said.
The center advised residents to stay indoors and urged local authorities to take precautions with roads, railways, electricity and telecommunications.
CHINA has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
