Nine Greek officials charged over 2017 deadly floods
ATHENS, March 19 (Xinhua) -- An Athens prosecutor brought charges against nine officials over the flash floods of November 2017 in western Attica that caused 25 deaths, Greek national news agency AMNA reported on Tuesday.
Attica Regional Governor Rena Dourou, three local mayors and officials of the forestry and zoning authorities were charged with negligent manslaughter, breach of duty and violation of construction regulations among others.
Earlier this month prosecutors brought similar charges against Dourou and other 19 persons, mostly serving and former officials, regarding last July's wildfire tragedy in eastern Attica which resulted in 100 deaths. Enditem
