Cameroon division 1 football coach kidnapped in restive Anglophone region
YAOUNDE, March 19 (Xinhua) -- "Unidentified gunmen" kidnapped Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, head coach of division 1 football Club Young Sports Academy (YOSA) early Tuesday in Bamenda, chief town of Northwest, one of the two war-torn English-speaking regions of Cameroon, according to local authorities.
"He was abducted in Bamenda beside his car. We hope he is safe whereever he is. He is not a politician, just a coach, so we don't know why he was kidnapped." Raymond Mbah, an official of the Club told Xinhua.
Management of the Club is holding a crisis meeting to secure his safe release, Mbah added.
Bosso is the first high-profile sportsman to be kidnapped since an armed conflict started in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon in November 2017.
