Austria's Schonbrunn Palace sees record-high number of visitors in 2018
VIENNA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Austria's famous Schonbrunn Palace saw a record high of 3.978 million visitors in 2018, its operator SKB revealed in a press release on Monday.
Plus other related attractions run by SKB, a company solely owned by the Republic of Austria, the total number of visitors was 5.089 million, the first time surpassing the five-million mark.
The total revenues, which include ticket sales and those from other sources such as shops and stalls, amounted to about 63 million euros (71.5 million U.S. dollars).
SKB said it is continuing to invest in construction and restoration at the historical sites, while planning an exhibition tour based on Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sisi.
In the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 published by the World Economic Forum, Austria ranked at the top in terms of tourist service infrastructure.
Schonbrunn Palace is a Rococo summer residence of the Habsburg rulers in Vienna, Austria. It is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical buildings in the country as well as a major tourist attraction.
