APD | 5 Indians died in New Zealand mosque attack

NEW DELHI, Mar.18(APD)- According to recent reports five Indians are dead in the attack on two mosques in New Zealand’s Christchurch.
Earlier this week Mohammad Farhaj Ahsan, the 30-year-old electrical engineer succumbed to his injuries raising the count to five from four.
Ahsan was living in Christchurch in the past six years with his wife and two children, aged three and seven. He fell prey to the shooting at the Al Noor Masjid.
Three of the Indians who died in the shootings are from the province of Gujarat, while one is from Karimnagar district of Telangana. The dead also included a father-son duo.
The father, Mehboob Khokkhar, who was a retired employee of Gujarat government, was visiting his son Imran, who lived in New Zealand. They were in the mosque together when the shootings took place.
The shootings took place at two mosques on Saturday and by Sunday New Zealand’s government confirmed that 50 people died in the shootings.
Twenty eight year old Brenton Harris Tarrant has been taken into custody for the attack. He had sent an 87-page manifesto to an email associated with New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.
