Caputova, Sefcovic head to Slovak election run-off for presidency
BRATISLAVA, march 17 (Xinhua) -- A run-off in Slovakia will take place on march 30 after no candidate received over half of the valid votes in the first round of the Country's presidential elections, the Country's electoral commission said Sunday.
Lawyer Zuzana Caputova and Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic make it to the second round. Caputova, 45, garnered 40.57 percent of the vote, and Sefcovic, from the governing Smer-SD party, won nearly 18.66 percent.
A new president, who is scheduled to be inaugurated on June 15, will be chosen to assume the Country's top political post for the next five years. Incumbent President Andrej Kiska has decided not to run for re-election.
