Sudanese president to participate in 1st Russian-African summit
KHARTOUM, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir on Saturday received an invitation from the Russian president Vladimir Putin to take part in the first Russian-African summit to be hosted by Russia in October, said a statement by Sudanese Presidency.
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov delivered the invitation during his meeting with al-Bashir in Khartoum Saturday.
According to the statement, Bashir expressed Sudan's keenness to enhance the bilateral relations with Russia and develop the cooperation between the two countries to achieve the interests of the two countries and peoples in all fields.
The meeting also reviewed the bilateral issues within the framework of the strategic partnership, namely with regard to political dialogue and coordination of stances concerning international issues.
Bogdanov arrived in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Friday evening.
