APD | First batch of trainees in Chinese firm’s vocational training program graduated in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Mar.15 (APD) -- Trainees from Indonesian vocational schools were graduated on Friday, making it the first graduation of heavy duty operator training program carried out by a Chinese construction firm operating in Indonesia.
The 19 vocational school students taking part in the program received certificates in the event after completing their 6-month training period to become operators of rotary rig drilling machine in the firm’s project sites.
The program held by Indo Paku Bumi (IPB) which partnering with Indonesian firm DNA Initiative is praised as a next-level way to further expand education and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia.
“Such a training program would play bigger role in the future to boost bilateral cooperation in the sector which is based on friendship, equality and mutually beneficial aspects,” Chinese Embassy Cultural Counselor Zhou Bin said in his remarks to address the event held in one of IPB project site located in western Jakarta suburb area of Alam Sutra.
He added that the program has perfectly manifested the new way to boost cooperation in the sector approved by the two countries and deepening bilateral ties.
It also fits with goals of China’s Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI) and Indonesia’s Global Maritime Axis aim set by leaders of the two countries, he said.
Speaking in the event, IPB CEO Wang Dewu said that the program was resulted from its cooperation with Indonesia’s related institutions after realizing outnumbered operators of heavy duty machines in infrastructure projects.
He said IPB would hire Indonesian vocational school students graduated from the training program. He added that recruitment of Indonesian workers through the program would further expand number of local workers in IPB.
Yusuf Prasetyo, a student who is among those graduated from the program, said that the program was commenced in September last year after series of selection that made him qualified in it.
Trainees from 4 vocational schools in the country had to undertake in-class lecturing session and on-site working sessions, which equally lasted in 3 months, to qualify the certificates, he said.
“We are proud to become the first batch of this training program,” he said, adding that the program gives trainees a profound knowledge on drilling machine, as well as drilling techniques and the skills to operate the machines.
He said all of those learning and training activities in the program and the certificates have boosted their confident, experiences to work in real situation on the field that would be very useful for their future career.
