Mingde (明德), virtue or high moral standards
CHINESE President Xi Jinping called on writers, artists and theorists to guide the public with high moral standards when joining a joint panel discussion attended by political advisors from the sectors of culture and art, and social sciences on March 4, 2019. The "High moral standards" here is Mingde (明德) in CHINESE which is quoted from the first sentence of "The Great Learning", a CHINESE Confucian classic. It means "what the Great Learning teaches, is to illustrate illustrious virtue; to renovate the people; and to rest in the highest excellence."
