1 killed, 1 injured in plane crash at LA airport
LOS ANGELES, March 13 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and another taken to a nearby hospital after a plane crashed at Compton/Woodley Airport in Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California on Wednesday evening, local authorities said.
Compton Station deputies responded to a call of the plane crash at approximately 6:52 p.m. (0252 GMT), according to a release by the LA County Sheriff's Department.
When they arrived, Compton Fire Department personnel had extinguished a fire from two small Cessna type planes that appeared to have been involved in a collision, said the release.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene and another was transported to a local hospital, according to authorities.
The cause of the crash remains unknown and an investigation is ongoing, said the release.
