Zidane gears up for second spell with Real Madrid

In Spain, Zinedine Zidane is gearing up to make his second stint in the dugout with real Madrid after returning to the Club this week.

The 46-year-old guided Los Blancos to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018, to go with the 2017 La Liga trophy, before stepping down at the end of last season. real have endured a miserable season in his absence, first sacking Julen Lopetegui and then Santiago Solari, with the Club now 8 points off the Barcelona in top spot. The Frenchman's latest contract at the Bernabeu goes until June 2022, and his first match in charge under the new deal is against Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday.

During Zidane's first spell with the Club, over the course of less than three seasons, he managed to win nine trophies including three straight UEFA Champions League titles, one in La Liga, and two at the Club World Cup. To make room for Zidane, real parted ways with Solari, who was only in charge for 22 games after replacing Julen Lopetegui last October, leading the team to win another Club world cup, but they've since bowed out of both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in a week's time.
