PHNOM PENH, Mar.14 (APD) - Group of Business Delegates from Liaoning province are exploring business and investment opportunity in Cambodia.
In a Cambodia-Liaoning trade promotion event held on Wednesday, business executives and Cambodian government officials discuss agricultural business opportunities, and to meet potential Cambodian business partners.
Co-organized by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce and the Hong Kong-based SUNWAH Group, the forum was held in the presence of Chinese ambassador Wang Wentian, senior officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
The event was aimed to capitalize on opportunities aimed to revitalize the old industrial base in Northeast China, as well as a favorable economic environment, which is presenting new opportunities for cooperation and mutual development with new partners, said Song Yanlin, Liaoning Provincial Director of Commerce.
Along with the Belt and Road Initiative, this promotional event provided a platform for executives and officials from both sides to learn and discuss how to expand and strengthen commercial ties between one another, and to match business partners, they said.
China has long been Cambodia’s top trade partner and exporter. In 2018, the total volume of export and import of the two countries was $7.39 billion, up 27.6 percent compared to $5.35 billion in 2017, stated the figures from Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce.
The Chinese investment in Cambodia was recorded $6.8 billion in 2018, up 7 percent year-on-year, Prime Minister Hun Sen said in January.
