Israel to set up smart transportation national research center
JERUSALEM, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Bar Ilan University, located in the Center of Israel, and the northern Israel Institute of Technology will jointly establish a national Research Center in the field of smart transportation, the state's Council For Higher Education published on Wednesday.
The two universities won a tender for the establishment of the Center at an investment of 25 million new shekels (about 6.93 million U.S. dollars).
To achieve progress in smart transportation, Research cooperation is required in a wide range of fields, such as mathematics, business administration, computers, engineering, architecture and geography.
Therefore, one of the main functions of the Center will be developing the Research community in Israel to encourage and promote the Research and development of smart transportation.
The new Center will also encourage cooperation between all interested parties, including Researchers from academia and RD Centers worldwide in the relevant areas.
In addition, the Center will work to encourage and promote cooperation among the scientific community in Israel and between entrepreneurs and industry from Israel and abroad.
