May: I want to leave EU with a good deal

British Prime Minister Theresa May said Wednesday she wanted to leave the European Union with an agreement and she would be voting against a "no DEAL" exit later in Parliament.

Lawmakers will vote on a government motion later which states that Parliament rejects leaving the EU without a DEAL on March 29, but notes that leaving without a DEAL remains the legal default unless a DEAL is agreed.

"I want to leave the European Union with a good DEAL, I believe we have a good DEAL," she told Parliament. "I will be voting for the motion standing in my name.

When asked about legal opinion on May's Brexit assurances, Britain's Attorney General Geoffrey Cox announced that he will not change his opinion after speculation that he could give an additional opinion, according to his office. Cox said earlier Tuesday that the legal risk of May's last-minute new agreement

Speaking of the Brexit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday that the options for Britain's withdrawal from the EU had become more limited after British lawmakers rejected .

"We have not given up the goal of an orderly exit (for Britain), but yesterday's events mean the options have become narrower," she said, adding she would be able to say how things might proceed only after the next votes in the British Parliament.

If the Parliament passes no-DEAL Brexit on Wednesday night, the UK will crash out of the EU on March 29 with no arrangement with the bloc, which would also mean a hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland, a scenario that a majority of the MPs oppose.
