Singapore stocks close 0.52 pct higher

Singapore, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.52 percent, or 16.66 points, to close at 3,195.59.

A total of 817.48 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.05 billion Singapore dollars (about 774.51 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 221 to 176.

The STI index went up 0.65 percent, or 20.83 points, to close at 3,212.25 Tuesday.
