Kuwait to daily produce 3.5 bln cubic feet of gas in 2031-2032
Kuwait CITY, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait plans to produce 3.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day in 2031-2032, Hashem Sayyed Hashem, chief executive officer of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said on Tuesday.
He made the announcement on behalf of Kuwait's Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Khaled Al-Fadhel at the opening ceremony of the 27th Conference of the Gas Processing Association-GCC Chapter in Kuwait.
Hashem said that Kuwait's gas production is 1.9 billion standard cubic feet per day, but it will expand to reach to its full production capacity to 3 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2023-2024 in northern Kuwait.
Kuwait's gas production will reach its maximum limits in 2031-2032 which was estimated at 3.5 billion standard cubic feet per day, he noted.
Hashem said that there is a giant project to build facilities for the import of liquefied natural gas in the Al-Zour area, south of Kuwait, in 2022, which is worth 2.9 billion U.S. dollars.
"Natural gas has been chosen as a major domestic source of fuel in Kuwait ... because of its economic feasibility and clean effect on the environment," he added.
