Ballet "Cendrillon" to hit Beijing stage
BEIJING, march 12 (Xinhua) -- The ballet "Cendrillon (Cinderella)" by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo will hit The stage of The National Center for The Performing Arts (NCPA) from march 14 to 16.
The ballet is choreographed by director Jean-Christophe Maillot, who has tried to redefine The centuries-old fairy tale with modern elements, even replacing The famed glass slipper with bare-feet glistening with delicate, ephemeral gold dust.
The ballet takes The heroine Cendrillon on a journey to find true love, with a focus on The characters' psychology.
It depicts Cendrillon's original family, in which her birth moTher is incarnated as a fairy who leads Cendrillon to pursue happiness.
