China to step up IPR protection though pragmatic measures

CHINA will strengthen Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection and further innovate work mechanisms and models, said the head of the State Intellectual Property Office Shen Changyu Tuesday during a "passage interview" for ministers after the third plenary meeting of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress, CHINA's national legislature.

Shen made the remarks when asked by CGTN reporter Tang Bo what pragmatic measures are being taken to protect IPR.

"For those people who have violated the IP, they should pay a higher cost. We have also started on working on an amendment to trademark law. Last year, the average trademark review cycle was shortened to fewer than six months in CHINA," according to Shen.
