Fifth person shot dead in Australian city of Melbourne in 10 days

SYDNEY, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Another Man has been shot to death in the Australian city of Melbourne, where last weekend four people were killed in suspected gang related violence, taking the death toll to five people in 10 days.

The latest incident occurred on Sunday with police attending the suburb of Springvale just before midnight following reports of a single gunshot.

Paramedics were unable to revive a Man who died at the scene.

On March 1, a young father was shot dead in a street attack which left two other people injured.

Two days later a Man in his 50s was found dead in his car with gunshot wounds, and last Monday, two men were shot dead.

Victoria Police said in a statement there is nothing else yet to link the deaths.

"At this stage of the investigation, police don't believe this incident is linked to the other shootings in Melbourne this month," police said in a statement.
