Canadian old man trapped weeks in house by snow found alive
OTTAWA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- An old Man has been found alive after spending part of the winter trapped inside his house in eastern Ottawa by snow and living off canned food, according to CTV Friday.
Police were called Thursday night by a neighbor who returned to Ottawa from Florida and surprisingly saw thick snow and ice piled high outside the old Man's house.
Police spent one hour and half to clear a path to the front door, with the help of neighbors pitching in with shovels and snow blowers.
Police entered the house and saw the old Man on his couch. The Man told police he'd survived by rationing whatever canned food left. He couldn't get out as his snow blower had broken and he was expecting to stay in his house all the winter until the spring thaw let him get out of the house.
The Man doesn't even have a telephone at his house.
Neighbors said that the Man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, usually only left his house at night. And they could see him once or twice a year.
